The Unltimate Valentine

Love is essentially a sport, and not for the faint of heart.

It is also a dance, and if you have chosen your partner for life, then it will culminate in the dance of death.

Nothing expresses the concept of dying for one's love as does this ballet and score:

If you have not loved nor been loved like this, then it really hasn't been worth it.

Perhaps that is why Cupid shoots the arrow through the heart......

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

OK, well flowers and chocolates work well too, but for me, it's always been ballet. Hope you do enjoy this day with your love, or your dreamed of love.

Thanks for the prodding here, Neetu. I have several pieces in my drafts or unpublished folder. I will develop them and get a few of them out soon. I just did not want to take over the group, so I am happy that you and Wise Wizard made recent contributions too. Some others (one in particular, by memory only it may by KYPIOAK----, you see I cannot complete the name properly. I'll amend this later to give full credit where due) have made contributions, but not recently.

That also reminds me that I need to backtrack the dating of the materials submissions in the "About Section"...........

Anyway, thanks for putting this back on the tracker. Maybe someone else will see and join up also (we are talking about Classical Gas group, at least I think we are). BTW, I think I might change the name of the group also, if that is a do-able project. I'll ask the moderators. If I do that, what would you name it, Neetu? I think that some people are not getting the idea based on the name, which I had borrowed from Mason Williams' piece called Classical Gas. However, for those too young to remember it, they did not get the direction.

Anyway, what did you think of the ballet link I posted in the article above? It actually isn't my favourite interpretation. I like the Maximova and Visiliev best (it's incredible), but when I pulled that up off YouTube, it didn't look very good. Unfortunate but true of the older stuff. Here is a link to their work, and a partial look at their pax de deux from Spartacus is contained within. She is turning out to be one of my favourite ballerinas of all time!:

So, one another note (lol), how about a study of one piece of clasical literature? Could you kick off a discussion of that for the group?

Prodding helps sometimes, Kara. Not always, though. Ultimately, the creativity comes from within, and when it is time, it is time! I look forward to reading what you write, so I prod you.

I need to think hard about what name would be appropriate for the group- can I get back in a couple of days to you with any suggestions? I just have too much going on in my life this weekend. I am going through a bit of a down swing myself - I guess it's part of that mid-life crisis!

I enjoyed the ballet clip. I have been so out of touch with ballet for almost 15 years that I wouldn't even dare to pretend I am up to date. The Bolshoi company has obviously gone through changes over the decades. It was my first exposure to ballet, when I was a little girl. My dad used to take me to performances whenever they came to our city. Seeing it on stage and seeing it on a screen are completely different experiences. The stage ones always mesmerized me!

I will be back as soon as I can with group name ideas, unless you come up with one before me! Have a great weekend!

Thanks, Neetu. We could always put it out to the group for a vote. That was all of the members feel involved............so I'm sorry you are in a down mode as well right now, and I am worse off today myself, so I can't be as active on the Vine. It happens. Don't worry, when I feel better I will put out the article for name change of the group. Yet again, I need to run it through Newsvine itself to see if they are able to do it for us. So, there is more than one step involved.

See you when we both feel better..........Anyways we could just keep it simple with something like Classical Forum. I'll put up 3 names and we can all vote. Journalling my way thru this. And, gotta check w/NV mgmt anyway first, so doesn't have to be on the front burner.

        Take care my friend

        Kara

PS You are right, there's nothing like a live ballet. I saw Carmen on stage recently, so maybe I could write about the experience. I love dance in any form. And, I also need to stress this, or revive an old article re folk music/dance from other cultures. They are fine too..........got some work ahead of me but not today!!

Kara. I loved it ! I showed it to some friends that I had over and everyone enjoyed. I have been busy this week with some personal things and projects but I tried to at least keep an eye on things. So thank you for this seed.

Thank you, Wiz. I'm so happy that you and your friends also like Maximova and Visliev, or was it the first one from the Bolshei...........both are incredible!!

Kara. It was the Bolshei. You would laugh because it was singers from the hip hop crowd and their friends..LOL..You just never know who gets impacted by what seeds you sow.

Thanks true, Wiz. It just demonstrates that conversions are possible.........lol. I like a lot of variety in the Classical world. I'm going to propose here that hip hop is a form of dance, as well as music, so that may be why they enjoyed it? They could see the athleticism involved in Ballet, and the music is pretty dynamic as well.

Reminds me to check out the "For Your Ears" group...........yes I like a lot of other music also. I'm not feeling too great today, so maybe over the weekend...........

Kara, I was thinking of some names and these are merely a couple of suggestions to play around with. "Classical Indulgence", or "Classical Journeys" or "Up the Classical Vine"...

I am feeling a bit perkier today, and am taking a total break from all things political, because I am sick of politicians for the present! I shall indulge in creative things, if I can! How are you doing?

              Hi Neetu,

Happy to hear that you are feeling better. I am too, but not all the way. It's almost like there's something in the air (maybe airborne flu??) or maybe on a deeper level, I'm not sure. But, my hubbie and some friends haven't felt at the top of their game either, recently. Kinda wierd...........

Re renaming of the group, I was thinking along the lines of Classical World, or Classical Forum, or Classical World Forum. However, I LOVE your first suggestion of Classical Indulgence. Let me now go and contact Tony Williams, who is my admin of the group for his input. I'll get back to you, and the group, via writing an article.

Thanks a lot for your input! I'm crazy for group involvement (and have joined too many myself......they are kind of addictive. But, if I'm not gonna be a productive member, maybe I should re-assess my value to the group),

am taking a total break from all things political

Good advice. I keep informed, but it can create a lot of tensions, especially when not feeling well.

              Take care, Kara
